~ with lemon, please~

Water.... with lemon, please.
That's my new drink of choice.
Since January, I've been trying to cut out Pop. (I call it pop... some call it Coke or Soda.  It's always been "Pop" for this gal.)
I loved Diet Pepsi.
Couldn't get enough.
Now it tastes funny to me if I drink it.
At first, I cut back to just ordering Pop if we went out to eat somewhere.
Now, it's either tea or water.
I can honestly say that I can tell a difference from this change.
In numerous areas.
I thought it would be harder than it was, but it wasn't.

One thing that helped was buying this cool cup with straw.
I love it.
I carry it to work.
It's in my cup holder at every ball game.
It's on my coffee table in the evenings.
It's on my nightstand until morning.
My kids take sips and think it "tastes better" in this cup.
As pricey as it was, I still might just have to buy a couple more for the rest of the group.

It's like buying a new pair of shoes, or a new color of nail polish.  If something just looks pretty to you, you are drawn to it more.
Thank you, my yellow-green cup, for encouraging me to drink more water.

Please share... whether it's coffee, tea, pop, soda, water, beer, Kool-aid.  Just shout it out..What's your drink of choice??

**Now I have to admit that as I read this post back, it's making me sing "Red Solo Cup" in my head!  Or, should I say, "Yellow-Green Cup"!?! And now I'll raise my cup saying, "Cheers to you, my friends! Happy Tuesday!"

Whatever it takes, right? It is a cool cup! I had the hardest time kicking a diet soda habit years ago. Haven't had one in a really long time and I don't miss it at all now.
My current drink of choice would have to be tea. It's what I enjoy drinking the most, but in reality most of what I drink is just plain ol' water.

Hey Kelly! I say coke to all soda drinks, but I don't drink them and haven't for years. I drink lots of water or selzer water.
Where in SC do you visit? I am on the coast between Charleston and Savannah, Ga. I say pa-khan by the way, but then I am not from here, my husband is! :)

Thanks Amber.. I think it's cool too! Gotta love the plain ol' clear stuff! :)

Hey Tracey~ Funny how we all call that brown fizzy stuff something different. That's why I got a charge out of your post today with the pecans. (We visit Myrtle Beach when we go to SC. But we always head down and visit Charleston b/c my dad went to the Citadel. We always visit the naval ships at Patriots Point and walk around on them, too. Have an awesome time! I'd love to visit Savannah sometime!!)

I am a water and lemon girl too, but you will also find a cup of tea near by as well :)

My poison of choice used to be Dr Pepper. I swear I was addicted to the dang things. Gave them up a couple of years ago and drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning then water. Every once in a while I'll have cold green tea with sugar and lemon.
So you're a fellow Carolina girl! I'm in North Carolina, in the Piedmont Triad region. I say pee-khan and soft drink and I drag those syllables out :)

I grew up saying "pop" as well. I think it's a midwestern thing. ;) My experience of cutting it out of my life sounds pretty similar to yours. I don't miss it at all. Now, I drink a lot of water, milk, and home-brewed kombucha.

My inlaws tease me because I call it soda. They are definite pop drinkers. I think I called it Coke regardless for a long time. I am a water drinker. I feel much better that way. When stressed out I have been known to succumb to Mtn Dew. Yikes.

I have always preferred water to anything else. Room temperature though please, NO ICE!

Enjoy your lovely new glass and I am sure your body thanks you for your purchase.

Gretchen~ Yes... do try it!

Kim~ I'm a tea lover, as well. Hot and iced. (and peppermint! :)

Melissa~ HA!! I can hear you saying those words now! Makes me feel like I'm with my aunt's the way they sound!

Courtney~ Wooo hoooo! A fellow "pop" gal! Must be our location! Now I'm off to see what that last drink is...

Heather~ Hope you are doing well on your travels. And hopefully it hasn't caused too many Mtn Dew sips!! :)

Jennifer~ You are the first person I've heard with NO ice. I've heard your body absorbs it better and hydrates you more drinking it this way.

Water. Definitely water, with black tea as the second. I have to start my day with a cup of black tea.

I just want to say that I am glad you are not only making this change for your health, but that you are setting a great example for your family and all the readers of your blog.

See, I've never been a soda drinker but I know a handful of people that are, and can not bring themselves to stop. When I try to gently nudge them about it, they don't want to hear about it from me because I'm a "granola head". I think people want to hear and be inspired by someone who can empathize with them. So, I would love it if you would share more about your journey off of pop. It may seem small, but I think if I shared it with my friends, they might reconsider.
