~ it's over~

I have a confession to make.
I may have made a fist-pump motion in the air when the buzzer blew last night.
Last game of the season.
My back is feeling the past three days spent on the bleachers during tournaments.
Longest season ever.
Any sport, any season, for both sons.
Longest EVER.
For him and us.
Record: 0-19
Still hurts to think about.
I laughed and shed a few tears this season.
He did, too.
He hustled and never quit.
But this chapter is over.
It taught a huge life lesson to my oldest.
How to lose.
How to lose with dignity.
And for that,
I am thankful.

Always a tough lesson to learn, but such an important one.

Oh! I so know how you feel! It's tough, but in the words of a great wrestling coach (my sons') -You have to learn how to lose, before you can win. Enjoy the break!

It's hard to not win, but sports are about so much more than even just the game itself. My kids have learned teamwork, sportsmanship, how to respect other adults, how be responsible for their own equipment, and compassion for other athletes who keep trying even when the score is against them.

Congrats on the end of the season, though. :-) I know how good it feels to have some time off from one routine. At least for a while.

such a bittersweet lesson, isn't it?

I love your hand fist comment.

I generally think I'm a quiet and reserved person who tries to be sweet- but when I coached a little boys soccer team I screamed my head off.
